Father’s Day is just around the corner and I know most of us are scrambling to figure out what to get Pops! I generally take my dad out to dinner and try to find concert tickets for him because he’s a big music guy, but if you’re stumped on what to get good ol’ dad, here are a few suggestions I’ve come up with! And on the plus side, these are all $100 or less! I know I’m always on a tight budget.
Foodie Friday
Berry Bowl in Highland Park
I make it a goal to grab an acai bowl from Berry Bowl at least every other weekend. Maybe it’s an LA thing, but it’s one of my favorite snacks. Thank goodness it’s healthy! It’s like a smoothie that you eat! With toppings! It’s so refreshing and I can also have chocolate in it too! What’s better than that?!
Winsome in Echo Park
My sister and I went here for a sister brunch during Memorial Day weekend! It was a little hard to find but we made it there and it was such a cute little spot to have brunch! Definitely a trendy eatery that offers healthier options, which is sometimes what I need. I got the potato rosti, which is almost like a latke and it was topped with poached eggs and smoked salmon. Yummm, right? My sister got a baked eggs plate with a side of bacon. We enjoyed our meal so much and might want to come back and try some of their other dishes!
Home Finds: Pretty in Pink
I’m not generally a very girly girl or anything, even though pink was my favorite color growing up and the Pink Ranger was my absolutely favorite Power Ranger. I tend to steer towards neutrals like greys and whites, but I do appreciate a pop of pink here and there when it comes to home decor. But not just any pink though, I like a more subtle and soft pink. I feel like it’s the perfect pop of color in your home without being too over the top. Instead diving right in and painting an entire wall pink, you could always just start with a pink chair or throw! Baby steps, you know?
See below for a few things I think would be perfect for your house if you want to embrace your feminine side and play with this pretty color!
Cold Shoulders
I attended my cousin’s graduation at Cal State San Marcos the other week and decided to whip out my new black blouse with ruffled cold shoulder details. I’ve been super into any type of shoulder tops lately, whether they are cold shoulders like this shirt or off the shoulder. I’ve always loved when shoulders or collar bones are accentuated. I think those parts of a woman’s body is so lovely and beautiful, so you already know that Sleeping Beauty’s dress was my favorite growing up! 🙂
I paired this amazing top with my distressed black jeans, quilted purse, pointed toe flats, and a blazer. I wanted something a little put together but added the ripped jeans for a more casual touch. What do you guys think?!

Foodie Finds: Ice Cream
I wanted to start a new series where each post, I’ll focus on a specific type of cuisine or food and share my favorite spots in LA (or somewhere else) with you all! I’ve eaten and tried out so many places, so I’ll not only continue my Foodie Friday posts on where I’ve been recently, but I’ll also occasionally do a Foodie Finds post! So here’s my first one and I hope you like it!
Ice cream. Is there a better combination of words? I can pretty much say that I’d be able to eat ice cream every single day and not mind whatsoever. Check out my favorite spots below!
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream in Los Feliz
(Also in Columbus, Cleveland, Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston, and St. Louis)
I just tried Jeni’s recently after hearing my coworkers tell me how amazing it is and needless to say, I was not disappointed whatsoever! They have such fun and delicious flavors with combinations of ingredients that you wouldn’t have thought tasted so good together! I love that when you walk past the building you already smell the freshly made waffle cones. That’s always a great sign!
Salt & Straw in Larchmont Village (Los Angeles) and Portland
I’m so glad they have a multiple locations here in LA now! They have such lovely and ‘flavor’-ful flavors! See what I did just there? 😛 I really enjoy how friendly the staff is there and how helpful they are with helping you choose what flavor you want. The ice cream is super creamy and offers such great seasonal flavors!
Afters Ice Cream in Pasadena
(also in Irvine, Fountain Valley, Rowland Heights, Chino Hills, Long Beach and Tustin)
This is the crazy place that has the buns filled with colorful ice cream and toppings, AND you’ve gotta try it! Their milky buns are like donuts that are filled with whatever flavor ice cream you want and one topping. I fell in love with their jasmine milk tea ice cream and their milk + cereal flavor. The buns can be a lot for me so if I’m trying to cut back on the calories, I’ll just get a cup and it’ll still satisfy my craving. Well, doesn’t save me tons of calories but it’s worth the effort right? The Pasadena location is a vintage gas station and it makes a super cute backdrop for your Instagram pictures!
T-shirt Dress and Smoothies
Easy jersey dresses have been a recent go-to of mine on weekends. I love slipping on a comfy dress and maybe pairing it with flat sandals and sneakers so that I could easily prance around town to run errands. The other day, I went to pick up smoothies for my family and wore this t-shirt dress from Old Navy with a cardigan and strappy sandals. It was super comfy and loose fitting so it was the perfect casual weekend outfit!

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale!!
I love love love sales and discounts so I keep a lookout for amazing deals on big holidays! It’s tough to update your wardrobe on a regular basis and stay on a budget, so I make it a goal to not buy anything unless it’s on sale OR I’ve been saving for it. It’s hard being an adult but I’m doing the best that I can! 😛
Nordstrom is currently holding their Half Yearly Sale up until June 5 but their anniversary sale will be in July, so mark your calendars for that! Below are some of the items I am eyeing and probably putting on my wishlist until I can commit on what I’ll purchase!
Did you guys find any great deals?!
Style Spotlight: White Lace
I’ve always loved lace for as long as I can remember. My family used to dress me up in little lace tulle dresses and I fell in love with the beautiful delicate details, even though the tulle was incredibly itchy!
I find that lace accents add a feminine touch to any outfit and softens your overall look. I know that many people think of grandma’s tablecloth or doilies when white lace is brought up but there’s something about it that draws me in every time. I’ve been loving how delicate lace blouses are trending these days because it gives me an excuse to buy more! Below are a few pieces that I found that would be great if you needed to add a little lace to your wardrobe!
Below are a few more options if you want to browse!
Comfy Pants
I’ve been constantly wearing distressed jeans nonstop since they are my go-to’s these days, but sometimes, I just want something more relaxed and comfortable. Not too constricting or tight. That’s when I whip these bad boys out! They are my lazy day pants, which are made of soft cotton and resemble harem pants. I generally pair them with a tee shirt that’s slightly tucked so that you could still see my waist line. Remember, petite ladies, you will appear taller when you tuck your shirt in a little to elongate your legs. If your tops are too long, it makes your legs seem shorter.
